The Canvas for Change program celebrates the artistic talents of Black youth who use art to amplify their voices. Led by artist mentor & youth facilitator Ashante Blackwood , she guides them in conceptualizing, communicating, and visually representing their ideas that are meant to highlight their unique perspectives and stories, aimed at sparking important conversations about anti-racism within the community. Open to youth aged 13- 18. The partnership is with the MacLaren Art Centre, and funding support for this project comes from the City of Barrie Arts & Culture grant and Alectra Utilities.
