Invasive Species Identification Walk and Learn | National Forest Week

Join the City of Barrie’s Forestry Department for a guided invasive species ID walk along Barrie’s North Shore Trail ! Participants will meet at Kempenfelt Park before heading along the trail toward Heritage Park . The walk will return to Kempenfelt Park and will take approximately one hour, covering about 1.3 km round trip. Along the way, forestry staff will introduce participants to invasive species commonly found along Barrie’s trails and natural areas, and explain how they can impact native plants, wildlife habitat, and the health of our urban forest. Participants will also learn how to identify both invasive and native species, tell the difference between them, and discover ways we can help protect Barrie’s natural areas. Each participant will receive an invasive species ID pamphlet to use during the walk, as well as a native wildflower seed packet to take home and plant.
