BWG Creates: Painting in the Spirit of the Group of Seven

Inspired by the bold colours, directional brushwork, and dramatic landscapes of the Group of Seven, participants will paint varying compositions of one reference image from the Holland Marsh region.

Led by local artist Christine Miller, this workshop introduces key Group of Seven painting techniques such as working over a red coloured ground (magic happens), simplifying shapes, and using exaggerated colour.

More than a paint along, we will discuss the history of Canadian landscape painting, and how Canadian artists made nature not humans the main character in their work, and why? How did that relate to our identity as Canadians?

No previous painting experience is required. Materials will be provided. Space is limited - RSVP starting August 31 to reserve your spot !
