Every Child Matters Flag Raising

The Severn community is invited to join Council on Monday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m. as we raise the Every Child Matters flag in advance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We are honoured to welcome Chief Ted Williams of Rama First Nation, who will join us and share a few words as we come together for a moment of reflection, remembrance, and learning.

Attendees are encouraged to wear orange as a visible show of support and to honour the children who never returned home, survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

On September 30, the Every Child Matters flag, along with all flags at Township facilities, will be lowered to half-mast in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The Every Child Matters flag will be raised again on October 1 and will remain in place until the morning of Monday, October 5.
