Textile Collection Week

Help keep reusable items out of the landfill by participating in Textile Collection Week. How to Participate Confirm your textile collection day ( it’s a different day than your regular collection day for organics, recycling and garbage). See the collection schedule below and visit recyclingrewards.com/barrie for a map. Place your items in a bag (preferably a clear bag, but if you don’t have a clear bag, you can use any type of waterproof plastic bag) and put a label on the bag that says “textiles”. T here is no limit to the number of bags you can donate. Put your items out on the curb on your textile collection day by 7am, rain or shine. The bags will be picked up by Recycling Rewards trucks before 5pm on your textile collection day. If your materials are placed curbside on your Textile Collection Day, but not collected by 5pm, please contact Recycling Rewards at fleet@recyclingrewards.com or leave a voicemail at 1-866-927-3873 to report a missed collection. If you live in an apartment or condominium, or if your property is in the downtown BIA, please contact Recycling Rewards at 1-866-927-3873 or fleet@recyclingrewards.com to arrange individual pickup. Regular Curbside Waste Collection Day Textile Collection Day Monday, October 5 Tuesday, October 6 Tuesday, October 6 Wednesday, October 7 Wednesday, October 7 Thursday, October 8 Thursday, October 8 Friday, October 9 Friday, October 9 Monday, October 5 About Textile Collection & Bins Textile Collection Week is offered to Barrie residents outside of the City’s curbside collection contract and is delivered in partnership with Recycling Rewards to support community-based recovery efforts and reduce landfill waste. Donations support Cornerstone to Recovery , a non-profit, charitable agency that provides community-based recovery programs for individuals and families experiencing and impacted by addiction. Barrie has two curbside textile collections per year, in the spring and fall. There are also four textile bins at facilities across Barrie that accept textile donations year-round: Operations Centre, 165 Ferndale Drive North Wastewater Maintenance Facility, 167 Bradford Street Sadlon Arena , 555 Bayview Drive Allandale Recreation Centre , 190 Bayview Drive Refer to reusable clothing & textiles for more information on textile bins. Did you know? In 2025, Recycling Rewards trucks collected 16.83 tonnes of material from Barrie homes through the curbside textile collection program in May and October.
